Frustration is a part of life!
Doing right by your dog means preparing them for the realities of the real world. ๐๐ป
I love the push towards kinder training for dogs, being mindful of dogs emotions and working with their motivation rather than against. However sometimes we are guilty of throwing the baby out with the bath water and avoiding them feeling any form of stress or frustration in the process.
This does a real disservice to dogs, because unfortunately in the real world they WILL experience frustration. Not everything is optional. However kind you are with your dogs training and management - thatโs just life! And itโs kinder that they learn how to cope with it in small doses in controlled situations, rather than being tossed in the deep end and wondering why they are struggling.
Teach your dog how to handle frustration. Donโt try and avoid it.
