Bungy Leashes

For whoever needs to hear this:

If your dog is struggling to walk nicely on a lead.

If control is sometimes a challenge.

If you’re wanting walks to be more comfortable for them and for you.

Step away, run far far away, from the bungy, shock absorbing, stretchy leads.

These leads are wonderful for running or biking with an already trained dog. This is what they were designed for.

However for your untrained dog on a normal walk, they are enabling the pulling by making it even more comfortable to pull into that collar/harness and providing you with much less control in directing them. It’s taking you further away from the comfortable side by side leash walk we’re aiming for, and gives you more work having to undo that history of comfortably pulling into it with no consequences for their actions.

If you’re getting started on your leash training journey, please just stick to the standard 4-6tft rope, webbing, leather or biothane leash unless instructed otherwise by your trainer. This allows you to direct your dog accurately, feel when they are putting pressure on it and teach them how to turn off that pressure so you can enjoy a comfortable loose lead walk together with no shocks to absorb.
